Admit.me Cheat Sheet: 7 Tips to Get You Started

Created an Admit.me profile, but not sure how to get started? Use these tips to make most of Admit.me!

Tip #1: Get a free evaluation of your admissions profile.

Can I just repeat, a FREE evaluation by one of our very own experts? Admit.me users have used our feedback to:

  • Expand their school selection
  • Get tips to best leverage their experience
  • Get insight on building their personal “brand”
  • Continue the conversation with experts to get further advice

How to claim the apple? Fill out your Admit.me profile as completely as possible, and reach out to us by clicking on “Get Feedback” on your profile page. Feel free to add a picture that highlights who you are (does NOT need to a professional photo). Check out our video on how to use our profile builder wizard.

The more you fill out your profile, the better your expert will be able to get back to you with a more detailed, personalized feedback. One of those many life situations where the following saying applies: You get what you put in.

Remember, you can always adjust your profile privacy settings at any time by going to Account Settings (you can do this by clicking on the circular icon with your profile picture in the upper right hand corner of your browser).

Complete your profile and get a free evaluation now.

Tip #2: Learn how to use our main search bar.

main search bar

With this versatile and comprehensive search bar located on the top of our page, you can type in keywords to search for people, schools, articles, discussions, webinars, and more.

For example, if you want to find and connect with current students or alumni at your target school, type in the name of your school and see a list of people related to that school. Send an invitation to connect, and voila! Once they confirm, you can view their profile or send them a message.

Tip #3: “Werk” your admissions network.

Manage your contacts in your personalized admissions network and get insider’s tips from current students, alumni, and experts. Establish alliances with fellow applicants who have similar goals, interests, and target schools (a.k.a. “peer support network”).

Here’s a tip: The better filled out your profile is, the more effectively you’ll be with connecting with others. This is another way you could take advantage of your well filled-out Admit.me profile.

Let’s be honest, who wants to be friends with a stranger who refuses to talk about themselves? Unless they want to be a creeper, like this guy here…

A creeper be like...

Tip #4: Ask, you shall receive…

…an answer. Not as cool as an acceptance letter – but hey, you’re already on track to getting that letter, and Admit.me is dedicated to help you do just that.

Use the “Ask A Question” forum to ask any question you may have according to your area of study, and get answered by one of our experts in within 24 hours. Watch our intro video on question forum best practices.

It’s completely normal to have unanswered questions, doubts, and worries about your admissions process. Trust me, you’re not alone–that’s what Admit.me is all about. We’re here to ensure that you’ll never apply alone.

Tip #5: Keep up-to-date with the latest admissions news.

Our “Content” tab pulls the best information from all the sources out in the wild to help you keep your feet on the terrain. Whether you’re applying to college or graduate school, we have a wide range of articles from relevant news articles and favorite admissions blogs, including our own, we’ll do our best you get the freshest fish from the ocean (two nature-themed metaphors in a paragraph right there).

by areas of study

In the content tab, You can also start a discussion by commenting on any of these articles! Check out our quick video on how to navigate our admissions content and start discussions.

Tip #6: Explore your school options. The world is yours!

Use our “Schools” tab to start your school research (Currently not available, but we’re working very hard to make it ready for you all!).

Watch our video on how to follow school pages to get updates. Currently, we only have undergraduate programs listed, but we’ll soon be widely expanding our list to accommodate all our community members.
